Important guidelines regarding scheduling and fees for 2018-2019 season:

  • there will be no practices during official holidays
  • there will be practices during PA days, unless otherwise notified by the school
  • if the school cancels a gym day for any reason, we will offer a make-up lesson only if TDSB Permits is able to offer an alternative location
  • all fees include GST
  • additional sibling receives 10% discount
  • all payments are to be made in cash, e-transfer, or cheque payable to NET Basketball Academy
  • all payments are due within the first 2 weeks of practice, and not at registration time; however, for any exceptions, please talk to Coach Daniel
  • no refunds will be made after the first 2 weeks of practice
  • we can make changes to the schedule and/or fees at any time with proper notification

We offer 3 types of programs, some of them split in 2 sessions: Fall/Winter 2018 (Sept.-Dec), and Winter/Spring 2019 (Jan.-May):

 

A. Skills Development Programs (co-ed)

1. Skills Fundamentals Clinics - Fall/Winter 2018 session:

Target: children with no prior organized basketball experience (never played basketball before, or played in school teams, or played only pick-up ball)

Goal: learning the correct execution of fundamental basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing, defensive stance, rebounding)

Practice schedule and location:

  • Clinic 1: Thursday 6:00-7:30 pm (Forest Manor PS) 
  • Clinic 2: Thursday 7:30-9:00 pm (Forest Manor PS)

Duration: Sept. 27 - Dec. 20, 2018

Fee: $200 per child (the fee includes: gym, insurance, practice jersey, equipment)

 

2. Offensive and Defensive Concepts Clinics - Winter/Spring 2019 session:

Target: children with no prior organized basketball experience (never played basketball before, or played in school teams, or played only pick-up ball)

Goalsfirst, keep improving the individual basketball skills. Second, introduce fundamental offensive and defensive team play concepts: basic motion offense, spacing, cutting, on- and off-the-ball defense, shell defense.

Practice schedule and location:

  • Clinic 1: Thursday 6:00-7:30 pm (Forest Manor PS) 
  • Clinic 2: Thursday 7:30-9:00 pm (Forest Manor PS)

Duration: Jan. 10 - Apr. 25, 2019

Fee: $225 per child (the fee includes: gym, insurance, practice jersey, equipment)

 

3. House League Clinics - Fall/Winter 2018 session

Target: players with some organized basketball experience, who either want to continue improving their skills or can't make the time commitment for the competitive program

Goals: skill consolidation and refinement, and team strategies and tactics through drills and scrimmages. Players will learn offensive and defensive concepts required to play the game of basketball in an organized manner

Duration: September 25 - December 18

Age groups:

  • Junior: athletes born in 2009, 2008, and 2007 
  • Senior: athletes born in 2006, 2005, and 2004

Practice schedule and location:

  • Junior group: Tuesday 6:00-7:30 pm (Woodbine JHS)
  • Senior group: Tuesday 7:30-9:00 pm (Woodbine JHS)

Duration: Sept. 25 - Dec. 18

Fee: $200 per child (the fee includes: gym, insurance, practice jersey, equipment)

 

4. House League Clinics - Winter/Spring 2019 session:

Target: players with some organized basketball experience, who either want to continue improving their skills or can't make the time commitment for the competitive program

Goals: first, to consolidate and refine individual basketball skills. Second, to introduce new team tactics in offense and defense, both in half-court and transition.

Duration: September 25 - December 18

Age groups:

  • Junior: athletes born in 2009, 2008, and 2007 
  • Senior: athletes born in 2006, 2005, and 2004

Practice schedule and location:

  • Junior group: Tuesday 6:00-7:30 pm (Woodbine JHS)
  • Senior group: Tuesday 7:30-9:00 pm (Woodbine JHS)

Duration: Jan. 8 - Apr. 23, 2019

Fee: $225 per child (the fee includes: gym, insurance, practice jersey, equipment)

 

5. NEW: Offensive Skills Clinic - Intermediate to Advanced

TargetRep team players, and House League players who want to work on their individual skills and aim to join a rep team in the future

Goals: intense skill development in regards to ballhandling (eyes-up), passing (no-air), and shooting (same form); preparation for off-season training

When: Wednesday and Friday from April 24 to May 31, with the exception of May 15 and 17.

Schedule:
– Junior group (players born between 2007 and 2010): 6:00-7:30 pm
– Senior group (players born in 2006 and 2005): 7:30-9 pm

Location: Woodbine JHS

Fee: $160/player (incl. HST)

 

B. Intra-mural Program (co-ed)

House League Games - Full Season 2018-2019; Important Note: while we strongly recommend that players should also participate in the House League Clinic, it is not mandatory to do so

Target: returning players with at least 1 year participation in any of our past programs, or players with organized basketball experience in other clubs (House League, Skill Clinics)

Goals: play basketball games in an organized setting 

Duration: September 29, 2018 - April 13, 2019; the first 5 weeks will be dedicated to a training camp, then there will be one or more games per age group every Saturday

Age groups:

  • Junior: athletes born in 2009, 2008, and 2007
  • Senior: athletes born in 2006, 2005, and 2004

Practice schedule and location:

  • Junior group: Saturday 10:00-11:30 am (Woodbine JHS)
  • Senior group: Saturday 11:30 am-1:00 pm (Woodbine JHS)

Fee: $300 per child for the full season (the fee includes gym, insurance, reversible jersey, equipment)

 

C. Competitive Programs

1. U12 Rep Team - Ontario Basketball League (OBL)

Target: players born in 2007 (or 2008 only for players from NET Basketball Academy) with proficient basketball skills at their age level who possess the drive and determination to compete at high level. Athletes have to commit to attending 2 practices a week, and a number of games and tournaments during weekends, Also, while not mandatory, we strongly advise players to join the Intra-mural Program, Junior group as well in order to increase game experience.  

Goal: have fun and becoming the best team we could be

Tryouts: Wednesday Sept. 19, 6:00-7:30 pm and Friday Sept. 21, 6:00-7:30 pm. Both tryouts are mandatory.

Duration: Sept. 26, 2018 - Apr. 17, 2019

League: Ontario Basketball League, 12 games in 5 weekendssee a schedule preview here; location and other details will be released by end of October

Practice schedule: Wednesday, 6:00-7:30, and Friday, 6:00-7:30 (Woodbine JHS)

Fee: $750 per child (includes: gym, OBA registration fees, insurance, referee fees, equipment)

Extra fees: uniforms, OBL fees ($1,950 per team). These fees will be paid as they are incurred. 

 

2. U14 Rep Team - Ontario Basketball League (OBL)

Target: players born in 2005 (or 2006 only for players from NET Basketball Academy) with proficient basketball skills at their age level who possess the drive and determination to compete at high level. Athletes have to commit to attending 2 practices a week, and a number of games and tournaments during weekends. 3. NEW: Open Gym Mondays - by invitation only:

Target: U12 and U14 Rep teams players 

Goals: improving shooting percentage, ballhandling skills, and passing abilities

Duration: Jan. 7 - Apr. 1, 2019 (could be extended)

Schedule: Monday 6:00-8:00 pm (a player can join anytime between these hours)

Fee: $10 per use
